Job Description

Overview The Retirement Plan Administrator / Compensation Analyst is responsible for administering the organization’s retirement plans and employee compensation practices for AHRC Nassau and its affiliate companies. Retirement Plans : Administers organizations’ retirement plans. Develops, recommends, and administers approved, new, or modified plans and policies and administers existing retirement plans. Provides guidance and assistance to all employees on all employer sponsored retirement benefit plans. Routinely collaborates with recordkeeper, ERISA counsel and Director. Compensation administration : Administers organizations’ compensation practices. Recommends, develops, and implements new compensation practices while administering current compensation programs, policies, and procedures to be responsive to the company's goals and priorities. Ensures, thorough audits, legal reports, and employee interactions that agency compensation programs are consistently administered in compliance with agency policies and government regulations. Responsibilities Primary duties and responsibilities include but not limited to: Administers all retirement plans, including the 401(k), 403(b), 457(b) and 457(f) plans, legacy pension plans and annuity plans. Serves as a resource to employees, retirees and management/ leadership. Facilitate all necessary transactions, including but not limited to employee enrollment in plans, employee contributions, loan requests, and employer contributions. Analyze retirement benefits costs and policies in an ongoing effort to reflect trends and maintain current legislative requirements. Work with director and/or counsel to interpret plan documents, prepare and file IRS determination letter application for qualified plans, assist with benefit issues, research, and assist with legal issues surrounding plan administration and corrections of plan failures under IRS rules and guidance. Work closely with providers, brokers, consultants, and the legal and HR teams to ensure that program benefits are communicated to employees. Participates in the preparing of reporting for the IRS and Department of Labor; preparing supporting forms and documentation for the proper operation and administration of employee benefits plans, including 403 (b) plans, deferred compensation plans; plans operated outside of the US, annuity plans and legacy pension plans. Research and resolve administrative and policy interpretation issues with recordkeepers and ERISA counsel. Ensures that the company stays appraised of and in compliance with provisions of the Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA) and other applicable laws and regulatory guidelines. Stay current on legislation and implications for benefit plans. Preparation of reports and applications required by law to be filed with federal and state agencies. Monitors the effectiveness of existing compensation policies, guidelines and procedures recommending and actively participating in plan maintenance as well as new plan development that is cost-effective and consistent with compensation trends and agency objectives; coordinates implementation and provides guidance to agency employees. Establishes and maintains current entry-level pay scales for job titles. Provides recommendations to leadership on pay decisions, policy and guideline interpretation, and job evaluation, including the design of creative solutions to specific compensation-related programs. Develop techniques for compiling, preparing, and presenting data related to retirement and compensation. Facilitates participation in salary surveys and conducts and obtains exempt and non-exempt compensation benchmarking reports to ensure agency compensation objectives are achieved. Maintains current knowledge of federal, state and local compensation laws and regulations to ensure company compliance. Facilitates contract renewals, communication materials, etc. related to retirement and compensation. Performs other duties as requested by supervisor. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree required; master’s degree strongly preferred. A minimum of one (1) year experience in Compensation & Retirement Plan Administration. Knowledge of compensation and retirement benefits and general human resources regulations and laws required. Strong analytical and organizational skills and ability to operate efficiently autonomously required. C omputer proficiency in all Microsoft Office Suite applications, including Excel required .
